Matrimony

The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.

The Archdiocese of Detroit requires that all marriages must be arranged at least six months before the wedding date. To begin this process, please call the parish office at (586) 752-9611

Know that most weddings are celebrated on Fridays – usually after 4 p.m. or on Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. We do not celebrate weddings on Sundays nor during Lent or Advent. We will place your wedding date on our parish calendar only after you have received and read our wedding book.

Marriage Assessment Counseling

Each couple is required to complete a customized online assessment tool that identifies their strength and growth areas as they prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage. The results are discussed with the couple by a professional therapist during sessions totaling 3 to 4 hours. The couple learns ways to improve their relationship, which includes strengthening their communication and conflict resolution skills. A workbook is also used during the sessions.

Afterwards, a written summary report along with the assessment tool is given to the priest or deacon who will preside at the couple’s wedding ceremony.

To schedule, please contact Mr. Joe Manuszak, a therapist from JTM & Associates, LLC at (586) 322-1660. Meetings will occur at the Agape Center located on the St. Clement of Rome grounds. The fee for this service is $225 plus $30 for processing the automated assessment tool; this amount should be paid by the second session.
